So the time is coming up to your big day. A day to remember for the rest of your life, and one that you want everyone to remeber too! But as everyone knows weddings don't often come cheap! So what is there to do? Here are MyWeddingSearch's top 10 tips for saving money but still have a fantastic day.
1. Booking at the Right Time.
The majority of weddings tend to occur throughout the summer months, with the weather at its best (supposedly) and plenty of people having time off in the summer period, but this doesn't mean you need do all the planning around this time. Most wedding businesses tend to slow down over the "out-of-season" period, which is usually around late autumn through to around february, so are more likely to offer you a lesser price to book in advance for the summer. These types of businesses are also going to more willing to negotiate a price so that they can keep the cash flowing through in the tougher times of the year
2. Do it Yourself!
There are plenty things that can be done by yourself or other loved ones rather than bringing in a professional to do. This includes things such as invitations, favours and even some catering. For those who consider themselves to be creative will be fantastic at this, as it is incredibly easy to get hold of arts and craft materials to make things such as these.
3. Send E-invitations
To save even more money on Tip 2 is to send your wedding invitations via e-mail. Most people these days have access to an e-mail address so why not send them an invitation online to save on costs of printing and accessories etc. For those who don't have an email, try contact them over the phone and make a list of who is coming to your wedding.
4. Ask Your Friends and Family.
This is an incredibly easy way to save yourself extra money on your wedding day, just to simply ask anyone you know if they know anybody that has a talent that may be of use to you. Any one who is a chef may not mind helping you with the catering, and anyone who knows a muscian will often be more than happy to play at a wedding reception.
5. Use Price Comparison Sites for Food & Drink
There are many different price comparison sites that can help you find out where is the cheapest place to get food and drink, and why not make the most of this! They compare the majority of all major supermarkets so can end up saving you both money and time.
6. Use sites such as Ebay
Ebay is home to millions of people who are wanting your business and it is possible to pick up some great bargains along the way. Items such as favour accessory kits, chocolate fountains and even dresses are available at a much cheaper price!
7. Kill Two Birds With One Stone
Try to find businesses that offer more than one service that can be of use. A good example of this is instead of hiring one person to do make up and another to do hair why not find someone who offers both services. These usually tend to be cheaper as they often offer it as a package deal.
8. Use your Ipod!
This is becoming a more and more common theme at weddings, that instead of hiring a DJ, create a playlist on your Ipod and just play that throughout the reception. This can be really good fun as you can choose what you want to hear, just make sure you have chosen enough songs!
9. In it to Win it!
Why not enter competitions for your special day? There are plenty of "Win Your Wedding" competitions going on all the time and if your lucky enough will have all your costs covered, and may even earn you your 5 minutes of fame for it!
10. Compare the competition.
This is possibly one of the simplest but unfortunately time consuming options, is simply searching through different wedding services in your local area on who offers the best deal and the best price. However this can be done in the comfort of your own home if you have internet access, as there are plenty of wedding directories that are there to help you.
